Collect Pull Tabs
How does it work?
We collect aluminum pull tabs from any container (soda pop, soup, pet food, etc.) and work with a local recycler to turn those tabs into money for families of seriously ill or injured children receiving medical treatment at Nashville area hospitals.
Who can participate?
Anyone! Because pull tabs are common and easy to collect, any individual or group can participate. Many schools support this project because it provides a terrific opportunity for children to get involved and make a genuine contribution to their community. Churches, hospitals, grocery stores, Rotary clubs and businesses also participate in this easy program.
Why pull tabs?
The pull tab is more sanitary and easier to store than whole cans in our limited space.
How do I collect the tabs?
Get creative by making an eye-popping collection container for your pull tabs. Use boxes, coffee cans or large plastic jars with wide openings (no milk jugs please!). We can provide you with a corrugated cardboard miniature house. Hanging up flyers and decorating your collection containers can help catch people’s eyes! Be clear that it’s going to help a good cause!
Be sure to communicate with your friends, family, and co-workers! Let them know why you are collecting and what Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville does. Share posts on social media tagging @RMHCNashville to remind your followers to share their pop tabs with you or start their own collection!
Here are some tips for joining us in “Pulling for the Ronald McDonald House.”
- Encourage each member of your organization to participate, no matter how many they collect – every tab counts! It takes approximately 1,200 pull tabs to equal one pound.
- Distribute collection containers like Ziploc bags or pick up pull tab collection houses at our location.
- Designate a collection site and time on a weekly or monthly basis.
- Pull tabs can be mailed to the Nashville Ronald McDonald House (2144 Fairfax Avenue) or dropped off 7 days a week from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. We also have a cart on the front porch with a donation form if you’d like to come outside of those hours.
Next time you open a can, please pull for Ronald McDonald House Charities of Nashville!
